Phil Dubuque

Originally from Lynn, Massachusetts, Phil started playing guitar at the age of eight; and began teaching music and performing publicly at age fourteen. He studied jazz and folk guitar, learning blues and bluegrass from masters of these styles at the Newport Folk Festivals of 1964–66.

Phil’s first original album release in 1968 was with the Flat Earth Society, blending folk and psychedelic rock, as lead vocalist, song writer, and guitarist. In Boston, the Flat Earth Society played popular venues opening for such acts as Tom Rush, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, and Mike Bloomfield. When Chuck Berry visited Boston, Flat Earth Society was his backing band.

In 1972 Phil signed with Chrysalis Records in London with his band Cottonwood touring Europe for several years; appearing with Supertramp, Robert Palmer, Jack Bruce, and Procol Harum among others.

Currently, Phil is a music teacher and soon to be a licensed music therapist. He is an avid guitar collector.
